The Course

Course Overview

Our 6428 yard, par 70 layout is the oldest ‘inland’ course in the world and was laid out by Old Tom Morris, George Sayers and later refined by James Braid. The course is built on a substrate of glacial sands, providing classic moorland fairways which drain freely and are playable all year.

The layout is tough but fair. It is an ideal length and difficulty to challenge the best golfers, yet also hugely rewarding for the average player, not least because of the sheer pleasure of playing a great course in a glorious natural moorland setting surrounded by inspirational scenery.
